The Pay for Performance Toolkit was developed through a USDA Conservation Innovation Grant led by Environmental Incentives and Partners for Western Conservation. Project partners include Environmental Defense Fund, Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, Idaho Office of Species Conservation, and Utah Department of Natural Resources.
Through the grant, various pay for performance strategies, contract templates, and other resources were developed to help programs across the West achieve better environmental outcomes and to accelerate the adoption of pay for performance approaches. The grant also supported implementation of pay for performance seed funding contracts through the Nevada Conservation Credit System, which recently completed the first habitat exchange credit transaction in the country.
The results of these efforts are shared as resources here for conservation buyers, producers, and financers working to address complex challenges across the conservation, water, and community development sectors.
